One Less Hassle (“we,” “us”) provides home maintenance coordination services through our mobile app and this website. This page explains what information we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with.
Information we collect
- Account information — your name, phone number, email, ZIP code, city or home address, provided when you submit a service request, create an account, or become a client. If you submit a request (in the app or on our website) without an account, we create an account for you from the details you give us. Some accounts have no password; you reach them with the email address and ZIP code on the account, or by signing in with Apple or Google. If you sign in with Apple or Google, they also tell us your name and email address.
- Service requests — descriptions, photos, and preferred scheduling times you submit when asking us to handle something at your home, the pro you choose, and the appointment times you pick.
- Home maintenance information — the maintenance tasks you track, when you last had each one done, any tasks you add yourself, and your home’s service history.
- To-Do list and AI feature inputs — the tasks you add to your To-Do list (a title, an optional description, and whether you plan to do it yourself or hire a pro). If you use one of our optional AI features, we also handle what you type into it, such as a task description or a chat message, along with the ZIP code on your account and the current date. We keep a simple record of your AI use (the date, which feature, how much was used, and when you accepted the AI notice). See “AI features” below.
- New homeowner choice — if you tell us you just bought your home, we remember that and add a starter checklist to your To-Do list. If you upload a home inspection report, see “AI features” below.
- Family members and sign-in records — if you add family members, we keep their name and phone number and what they do on the account (see “Family members” below). When anyone tries to sign in as a family member, we keep the phone number they typed and whether it worked, for about a day, so we can lock a number after too many wrong tries.
- Messages — the content of messages you send to or receive from our team through the app.
- Billing information — not collected. One Less Hassle is free to use, and we do not charge you or collect any card or bank information. We are never involved in payment for the actual repair or maintenance work a vendor performs — you pay each vendor directly, and we don’t see, process, or store any of that payment information.
- Push notification token — a device identifier used only to deliver notifications to your phone (for example, when we have found a pro for you or a vendor visit needs your approval). Notifications are optional; you can allow or turn them off in your device settings.
- Website visit information — when you visit onelesshassle.com we and the tools described under “Website analytics and advertising” below may collect your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you view.
- App install information — when you install or open our app, an ad measurement service (AppsFlyer) receives your device’s IP address, device and operating system type, app version, and an install and app-open record, so we can tell which ads led to installs. It does not receive your advertising identifier, and we do not show you the iPhone tracking prompt.
How we use it
We use your information to match you with vetted vendors, coordinate scheduling for requests and recurring maintenance, communicate with you about your account, and keep your home’s service history. We may contact you by in-app message, email, text message, push notification, or phone about your account, service requests, appointments, maintenance reminders, rewards, and occasional news, tips, or updates about One Less Hassle. We also use it to create your account and keep you signed in. You can opt out of promotional messages at any time by using the unsubscribe link in an email, replying STOP to a text, or turning off notifications in your device settings; we’ll still send essential messages about your account and any active service request. We do not currently charge for the One Less Hassle membership; once we begin billing in the future, we’ll use your information to do that too. Payment for the work itself is always between you and the vendor directly — we do not bill you for, collect, or process payment for any vendor’s services. We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not share the information you give us in the app (such as your account, home, or requests) for advertising. The ad measurement tools on our website and in our app are described below.
If you use the optional AI features, we use what you submit to create estimates, suggestions, and how-to help for you, to enforce usage limits, to keep the service secure, and to manage our costs.
Who we share it with
- Vendors — we share the details necessary to complete a specific job (like your address and what needs to be done) with the vendor performing that work.
- Stripe — will be our payment processor for your One Less Hassle membership once we begin billing in the future (not active today — see “Billing information” above). When it is, Stripe will handle all card and bank transfer details directly. Stripe’s own privacy policy governs how they handle that information: stripe.com/privacy. Any payment you make to a vendor for their work is handled directly between you and that vendor, outside of One Less Hassle and Stripe entirely.
- Apple and Google — if you choose to sign in with them, they confirm your identity to us and share your name and email address. Their own privacy policies govern what they do with that sign-in.
- AI service provider — when you use an AI feature, we send what you type into it, your ZIP code, and the date to an artificial intelligence company that creates the response for us. We currently use Anthropic, PBC. They process it on our behalf, and under their own terms they may keep it for a limited time, for example to prevent abuse; their privacy policy applies to that. We do not sell this information or use it for advertising. See “AI features” below.
- Ad measurement service — AppsFlyer receives the app install information described above, so we can measure which ads (for example, on Meta, TikTok, YouTube, or Nextdoor) lead to installs. It does not receive your name, email, address, or anything you enter in the app. Its own privacy policy applies: appsflyer.com/privacy-policy.
- Service providers — companies that host our app’s database, file storage, and push notifications, send our emails, and look up a city from a ZIP code (that lookup receives only the ZIP code you type) on our behalf. They can only use your information to provide those services to us.
Website analytics and advertising
Our website uses Vercel Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages they use, a Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram ads), a Nextdoor Pixel (Nextdoor ads), and a Google tag (Google Ads) to measure whether our ads lead to requests. When a request is submitted, the Meta and Nextdoor pixels are told only that a request happened, not your name, email, phone number, or address. These tools use cookies and similar technologies and send Meta, Nextdoor, and Google information about your visit, such as your IP address, device and browser, and the pages you view. Under some state privacy laws that can count as “sharing” for advertising. You can limit it by turning off third-party cookies in your browser, using a browser or extension that sends the Global Privacy Control signal, or adjusting your settings at adssettings.google.com.
Our mobile app uses AppsFlyer only to measure which ads lead to installs, as described above. It runs in a privacy-limited mode that does not read your device’s advertising identifier. We do not use it to follow you across other companies’ apps or websites, and we have no other analytics or advertising tools in the app.
Gift card rewards
One Less Hassle offers two digital gift card rewards, delivered by email through our gift card partner, Tremendous. Both are provided at our discretion and may be changed, paused, or ended at any time without notice. Gift cards have no cash value, can’t be exchanged for cash, and redeeming one is subject to Tremendous’s terms and the terms of whichever retailer you choose. We aren’t responsible for delays or issues with delivery or redemption caused by Tremendous or the retailer. We may deny or withhold a reward obtained through fraud or abuse of these programs, including self-referrals or fake accounts.
- $10 service reward — you earn this only after a vendor has completed a service and you’ve submitted the “how did it go” review for that visit marking it complete. Requesting a service, or a visit that hasn’t been marked complete yet, does not earn a reward.
- $5 referral reward — you earn this only after someone you’ve referred creates their own One Less Hassle account and that account completes a service (a vendor visit marked complete via a submitted review), within one year of the referral. Referring someone who never signs up, or who signs up but never completes a service within that year, does not earn a reward. Each referred person can earn a reward for at most one referrer, one time.
AI features
Our app has optional tools powered by artificial intelligence: “Not sure? Ask AI,” “What should I prioritize?,” and “How do I do this?” You never have to use them. Before your first use we show a short notice that you accept, and we limit how often they can be used.
- What is sent — what you type into the feature (such as a task title, description, or chat message), your task list when you ask what to prioritize, your ZIP code (so estimates can reflect local prices), and the current date. This goes to our AI provider, which creates the response.
- What is not sent — your name, phone number, email address, street address, or photos. The one exception is an inspection report you choose to upload, described next.
- Home inspection reports — if you choose to upload your home inspection report (a PDF or photos of its pages), we send the whole file to our AI provider to list the tasks it recommends. A report can contain personal details such as names and the home’s address, and we do not remove them first. We store the file in private storage only long enough to read it and delete it right after (a file that was uploaded but never read is deleted within a day). We keep the tasks you choose to add to your To-Do list, like the rest of your information. Uploading a report is optional, and you can skip it.
- Uploading a report before your account exists — when you are setting up the app as a new user, you can upload your report before you create your account so it can be read while you finish. Ticking the box on the AI notice at that point also means you agree to our Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy, and you agree again when you create your account. We save the date and wording of that agreement and add it to your account once it is created. Until then the list of tasks the AI found is held without your name or contact details, and we delete it within a day if you never finish creating an account. To limit how many reports can be read each day, we also keep a one-way scrambled version of your device’s internet address, which we cannot turn back into the address.
- What we keep — a record of your AI use (date, which feature, how much was used, and when you accepted the notice). We do not keep the text of your AI questions or of the answers, but tasks you add to your To-Do list are saved with your account like the rest of your information.
- Please don’t enter sensitive information — such as Social Security or ID numbers, bank or card numbers, passwords or access codes, health information, or anyone else’s personal details.
- Answers can be wrong — AI responses are created automatically. They are general information and rough estimates, not professional advice or a quote, and we do not use them to make decisions about you with legal or similarly significant effects. See Section 16 of our Terms of Service.
- Video links — a how-to answer may include a link that opens a search on YouTube (a Google service). If you open it, Google’s privacy policy applies to that visit.
Family members
You can add up to three family members to your account in the app. They use your account and see what you see.
- What we collect about them — the name and phone number you enter, when they signed in and agreed to our terms, and the notification setting on their phone. We also record what they do on the account, such as placing a work order, the same as for you.
- How it is used — to let them sign in (with their phone number, name, and your home’s ZIP code), to show them your home’s information, and to send them app notifications about the account, including when someone else on the account places a request or answers an appointment.
- The invitation — it is a text message sent from your own phone, by you. We do not send it, and we do not use their number for marketing.
- What they can see — everything on the account, including requests, appointments, messages, your home’s service history, and your To-Do list. Please add only people you trust and who agree to be added.
- Removing them — you can remove a family member in Settings at any time, and their access ends. Their name, phone number, and sign-in details are then kept inactive so the number can be added again, and are deleted when you delete your account.
Your choices
In the app, go to Settings and choose “Cancel or delete account.” Cancelling keeps your information so you can come back. Deleting permanently removes your account, requests, photos, maintenance tracker, To-Do list, history, messages, family members you added, and AI usage records, and any website request made with your email address. We keep your information while you have an account and delete it when you delete yours, except that we may keep limited records where the law requires it or where we need them to resolve disputes, prevent fraud, or enforce our terms. What our AI provider keeps under its own terms is outside our control and is governed by its policies.
To request a copy of your information, correct it, or ask us to delete it without using the app, reach out through our Contact page. Depending on where you live (for example, California and other states with privacy laws), you may have the right to know what we hold about you, correct it, and delete it, and we will not treat you differently for using those rights.
Children
Our services are intended for adults managing their own home or a family member’s. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to how we handle your information, we’ll update this page and, where appropriate, let you know directly.
